The youngest of the Marquez brothers move to MotoGP. Alex Marquez joins Repsol Honda for one season.

 

The newly crowned Moto2 World Champion Alex Marquez joins Repsol Honda for the 2020 MotoGP season. Alex will join his brother Marc Marquez on the factory Honda team. What started as a rumor at the Ricardo Tormo circuit paddock has been confirmed by Repsol Honda.

Since the moment Jorge Lorenzo announced his retirement, many pointed out that Alex Marquez was the main option for Repsol Honda to replace the five-time world champion.

Marc Marquez said he would be happy to be joined by his brother. Alberto Puig, Repsol Honda sporting manager, also said he would like to sign the youngest of the Marquez brothers.

It didn’t take long for the rumor to become true. The night before the first 2020 tests that are happening right now in Valencia, Alex Marquez was announced by the Repsol Honda team as their new MotoGP rider on a one-year contract.
