If you are a fan of movies and motorcycles, there’s a film that you’ll probably know: The Great Escape, starring Steve McQueen. If you remember correctly, there’s a scene in that movie where Steve uses a Triumph TR6R to jump across a barb wire fence and escape his pursuers.
Well, that motorcycle, one of the three that were made for the movie, has been kept locked in a museum and is currently on display at the Triumph Factory Visitor Experience, at Hinckley. But now, and for the first time in 40 years, Triumph will let the iconic 1962 TR6R leave the security of the museum and be shown publicly.
At the Blenheim Palace Festival of Transport, the bike will be part of the show and try to conquer the visitor’s attentions alongside other iconic motorcycles from the past, across three classes.
