Despite not racing in a kapcai for 11 years, former national MotoGP rider, Hafizh Syahrin easily showed his dominance when he won the Braaap Track Attack 2021 MP150 Elite category.

Held at the Sepang International Go-Kart Circuit on Sunday, Hafizh, who competed for the J Performance team, was not at all clumsy despite racing with a much smaller machine than the one he rode for several years in MotoGP.

Despite facing big names from the Cub Prix stage, Hafizh led the entire 15 laps on the 1.2km circuit.

Hafizh initially got stiff competition from his teammate, Izzat Zaidi who started first place, but he maintained his momentum and continued to record his second victory in the Braaap Track Attack MP150 category after also winning the Supermotard 450 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, third place went to Syafiq Rasol who was 24 seconds behind Hafizh and Izzat.

Hafizh also expressed his excitement over the opportunity given to him to warm up before the commencement of the 2022 World Superbike Championship.

“I’m really excited and happy to be able to recall the memories of riding a kapcai after 11 years of not riding one.

“I really miss the old days of racing the kapcai. I definitely enjoyed every session today. Glad that I was able to familiarise myself with this go-kart circuit where this is my first time racing a kapcai here.”

During the Supermotard 450 race on Saturday, Hafizh stunned the crowd when he emerged champion despite facing the national supermoto rider, Gabit Salleh.

Hafizh won the race comfortably when he crossed the finish line with a distance of 33 seconds from Gabit who emerged second followed by Khairul Afif Ghazali third.
